Dear Empower Family,

When building a non-profit every step feels like a monumental task and each achievement feels like the greatest milestone. There is an unmatched sense of accomplishment that comes with successfully raising money or meeting our goals with the number of children we sponsor. Of course, this is accompanied by an equal and often greater sense of responsibility. Every donor we do not reach, every dollar we do not raise means one less child in school during an academic year. So we learn to balance the elation of meeting our scholar’s needs with the ever present burden of those we have yet to support.

Our board of directors have always reminded us to be diligent and take baby steps. They encourage us, the administrative team or as we fondly refer to ourselves #TeamEmpower, to make sure we are diligently pursuing our respective studies and professional growth. Therefore, we have learned to work tirelessly in every capacity and to be graceful towards one another as well as to ourselves. Through this newsletter, we want to encourage you also, dear reader, to always give yourself grace. Celebrate your baby steps and also celebrate your big milestones in this month of February.

Most importantly, we are overjoyed to share that one of the Empower Scholars we sponsored through highschool, Jean Jacques, not only passed his state exam last year (BAC), he has successfully completed his first semester in university. He extends his greetings to you and thanks you for supporting him on his journey to independence and success.

Thanks again, The Empower Team
