Empower Newsletter | March 22, 2024

Dear Empower Family,

It is with great pleasure that we send out this newsletter to give you an update on our operations and the wellbeing of the Empower team members and scholars. This year, to increase the efficiency of our efforts, we have made significant structural changes which include reassigning roles within our administrative team, changing our newsletter schedule, and reformatting our partnerships with the orphanages we partner with in Cameroon to allow for greater transparency and to enable us to sponsor children in other parts of the country. We have also welcomed two new team members and started applying for grants that will help us exponentially increase the scope of our outreach.

 All fully-funded 2023-2024 Empower scholars, Belinga, Romeo, Abraham, Jordi, Martin, Madeleine, Jacques and Nathan are proceeding through the school year very well and we ask you to look forward to individual updates on their progress and wellbeing. In the upcoming season some of our scholars, Belinga and Abraham, will begin studying for their state exams so please keep them in your thoughts and prayers as they fastidiously prepare.  

We also take this opportunity to mourn the passing of a dearly loved member of our Empower family, Tata Chimene, as those of us who knew her fondly referred to her. Tata Chimene primarily served with Youth With A Mission but was also involved with many schools and churches across Yaounde. She was a bright light, an angel here on earth and a crusader for the salvation and education of young people. She frequently checked in to see how we were progressing as a team, how the Empower scholars were doing and to offer her support for our events in Yaounde, Cameroon. Her departure leaves a massive hole in our hearts but we thank God for her life and for the beautiful impact she has had on the world.
