To the Empower Family,
It is my immense pleasure to mail out this very first Empower Newsletter to all who have encouraged, prayed for, and donated to our mission. Once again, I want to express my utmost gratitude for your invaluable support over the last four years. As our organization grows, we believe that the next step is to facilitate your continued involvement by sending out monthly newsletters. In these newsletters, you will find prayer requests, milestones to celebrate, and regular updates on the children we strive for.
As this year comes to a close, I wanted to share some personal milestones from our team members. I, Ariella Joan, successfully defended my Master’s thesis; our Vice-president, Arielle, completed her first semester of medical school; and our financial manager, Paule Flora obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. We wanted to recognize these accomplishments alongside the growth of Empower Cameroon, all thanks to the encouragement and investment of our supporters.
Earlier this year also, the Empower team organized a fundraising football tournament in Yaounde. Thank you to the six teams from across the city that participated and congratulations to the Petrichor team for a well deserved win.
Thank you immensely for trusting our team of young students and believing in the boundless potential of the orphans we sponsor each year. The orphans Empower supports, dream of being teachers, engineers, officers, and football players. Before you joined us on this journey these dreams were unattainable. Today, thanks to you they are very much within reach. So we ask you to continue with us as we accompany them to success.
On Monday, my mother met with the director of one of the orphanages, the woman we fondly call Mama Pauline. I happened to call at the time and she told me they were in the process of sorting clothes that had been generously donated by one of our board members in New York. They organized the donations into the necessary items to keep and items to sell so that Mama Pauline can buy food for the orphans this month. Over the past few weeks, it has been an ongoing struggle for the orphanage to feed all the children and teenagers being housed there.
This discovery left me unsettled. While it is not the primary focus of this non-profit, I would like to ask you all to consider adding one more gift to your Christmas shopping list this year. Normally, the donations we receive are all put towards tuition or school supplies for the next school year. However, if indicated, we will gladly pass on funds from this month for the orphans’ meals. Please reach out to me via email empowercmr@gmail.com if you would like more information on how your donations meet their needs. If you would like to donate as soon as possible our PayPal run by the financial manager Paule Flora Sale is available at this link Empower Paypal. You may also donate with our Mobile Money number +237 6 70 39 88 41
As always, thank you for choosing to be a part of the Empower family as we seek to change the lives of these children. Happy Holidays to you and to your loved ones.
Fondest Regards,
