Running for a good cause

Dear Empower family,

Thanks once more for running with us as this year unfolds. We are excited to inform you of our first upcoming Fundraising Marathon that will take place on the 29th of July. Recently, three friends of mine reached out to inform me that they have decided to participate in a marathon and will be donating all the proceeds to Empower!

Our three runners are all graduates from Rain Forest International School and attended Calvin University in Michigan. Felicia Koki is a graduate in engineering, Andre Kaptyn studied biology and Hanvit Park is completing her nursing degree there as well. They are seeking to challenge themselves by running a marathon towards a great cause, which is helping other children to receive the education they themselves have received.

Running 41km takes approximately 4 hours and in order to complete the marathon you need to keep running through pain and fatigue by persevering and enduring for a long time. Perseverance keeps you pushing through each kilometer. In this same way many of the children we sponsor have persevered through heartbreaking situations and adverse odds.

Between now and July we will be watching our runners and encouraging them as they train for this challenge. We ask for your support in this process as well. For more information please reach out to us via our email, empowercmr@gmail.com.
